How to Use Pre-Save Progress Tracking and Manually Update a Release Link
Pre-save progress tracking shows you, in real time, whether each DSP or retailer has found your live release yet — and gives you a simple way to step in if it hasn't. Here's how it works and what to do if you need to update a link manually.
1. Find the scan status legend
Open the music page you manage, then go to the pre-save progress page. At the top, you'll see a new scan status legend.
This legend uses color coding to show how many times each DSP/retailer has been scanned for your live release. For example, a retailer that's been scanned 21 times and hasn't found the release yet will show as yellow.
2. Know when scanning starts
Scanning doesn't begin the moment you set up your pre-save — it starts 30 minutes before your release date and time.
Once scanning begins, the system searches each DSP/retailer for your live release link. If your release date/time hasn't hit yet, don't worry if the scan status isn't showing much progress — that's expected.
3. Monitor progress after release
Once your release date/time passes, scanning continues automatically in the background. The page will look familiar — it's your existing pre-save setup, just with scan progress added.
A few things to know:
The system can scan up to 100 times per retailer.
In some cases, scanning may continue for 24–48 hours after release before finding the link.
4. Manually update a retailer if the link isn't found
If scanning hasn't located your live release yet, you don't need to delete and recreate the retailer entry anymore. Instead:
Click "I have the release."
Paste in the live release URL.
Click Update.
The pre-save action will be replaced with a live Listen call-to-action.
5. Use manual updates when scanning fails
Occasionally, scanning won't find a release because the UPC or URL is incorrect. If this happens:
Select "I have a release URL."
Enter the correct release URL.
Save the update.
Your page will now reflect the correct live release — this is a reliable backup for the rare cases where automated scanning can't locate it.
